WELCOME TO SOUTO MONTANHA

Inspired by the natural beauty of our surroundings, assured by the traditions of the art and blessed by the privileged conditions of the terroir, we nurture our Alvarinho vines.

The result is something special which we are delighted to share with you.    

Souto Montanha is an Alvarinho grape white wine produced in Tras os Montes, Cerva, Cabriz in Portugal. Vines are planted in granite soil and have a beautiful deep golden colour because the vineyard is facing the sun all day. This varietal has floral notes of lemon-lime peach melon and pineapple.

ABOUT

Souto Montanha is the creation of Albino Silva, one of North America’s leading chefs and restauranteurs. Albino was born, and raised, close to this special parcel of land also known locally as Souto Montanha, of which the label derives its name.

Set over one and a half acres, the terraces offer stunning views of the mountains, natural springs and wildlife that surround them.  

Although a little distance away from the Alvarinho heartland, the conditions of Souto Montanha are ideal for the cultivation of ‘green’ wines. We planted our first cuttings in the Spring of 2014. Year on year, the results continue to impress and are a reflection of the unfaltering commitment of all those who play their part in nurturing the land and the project.  

  • Our vineyard is rural and humble but we’re always open to sharing it with people who enjoy good food, good wine and good company. Please contact us to arrange to visit of our vineyard and its glorious surroundings, and let us pour you a glass of something lovely.
